The domain: tourism
We are going to model the workflow for a small tourism enterprise.
Here is the brief description of the business model that we are going to implement:
- The enterprise sells ints services (guided tours) to the tourists online. People from all over the world can book the tour online by submitting the form online.
- The portfolio of the company consists of different sightseeing tours. Company manages the schedule of the tours. It is regularly revised and optimised according to the expected demand.
- The enterprise has no material assets such as cars, busses, as well as permanent employed tour guides. All these resources are leased from the vendors(suppliers).
- The tasks of the employees of the company include: bookkeeping, online marketing, contacting the clients (after booking tours, after receiving feedback etc), contacting vendors in order to organise the tour.
For modelling purposes, for the sake of the simplification, we will take the abstraction of these 5 tasks in order to describe the workflow:
Booking: choosing the tour - booking (1), confirmation of the tour - sending invoice (2), payment (3)
Scheduling: input the tour to the schedule (4), payment to the vendors (5)
Possible performance criterias:
- Revenue per month
- Quality of Service ( # cancellations initiated by the company per month)
- # of tours sold per month
- # of clients
