Project 11

Quartz sand is a valuable raw material which is needed for several industries like the glass- and cast iron production. Accordingly, everybody gets in touch with this element in a different way. We have chosen this industry because one member of our group got in touch with a named company producing quartz sand and so he has good knowledge about this industry and its procedures. Furthermore, this company produces and trades other minerals and building materials for DIY markets and wholesales. We would like to model the following process, divided into five tasks:
1. Customer ordering process (Angular) (Fabian Eberle)
2. Order processing by the sales and distribution departments (Hansjörg Eder)
3. Production by the production facility (Christoph Fraller)
4. Invoicing by the accounting department (this task would be an automated/scripting task), Upload/installation of the application on the server (Karl Maier)
5. Organize the shipment of goods to the customer by the warehouse management department, SMTP implementation (Aldin Rizvanovic)
Each of these tasks will be implemented by a group member, and it will provide an interesting process view on a nationally well known company and supplier for several industries.

Three KPIs:
1. Order To Production Ratio (OTPR) – With this KPI, it is calculated how much orders actually lead to a production task. This performance indicator is useful for future decisions about the storage management, e.g. if the product selection is sufficient to keep everything on stock.
2. Average Processing Time (AT-Processing) – We calculate the average overall processing time to check the efficiency of our workflow management system. This KPI is a measurement index for internal optimization purposes.
3. Average Production Time (AT-Production) – A measurement index for the assessment of the production task. This KPI can be used to answer questions like: Is the production task carried out in time? Is there space for optimization?
